The Friends of TNWR is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) citizens support group established in 2005. We are dedicated to promoting the conservation of natural resources for Tennessee National Wildlife Refuge and Cross Creeks National Wildlife Refuge located along the Kentucky and Barkley Lakes west of Nashville Tennessee. We provide vital support to our refuges by providing educational opportunities, increasing public awareness, volunteering, raising funds. We have a deep passion and appreciation for our Visitor Centers and public lands. |

VISIT YOUR LOCAL REFUGE! There’s something for Everyone Whether you are a birder, Photography, or hiker, there is something for you to enjoy at the Tennessee National Wildlife Refuge complex. If it is fresh air and a change of scenery you need after a hectic day, then come step into a place where traffic noise is the sound of spring peepers and songbirds. For hikers, Tennessee NWR has walking trails. Both the Tennessee and Cross Creeks Refuges offer excellent birding opportunities. Bald eagles can often be seen with the best viewing during winter. Weekend programs and special events offer a chance to learn more from rangers and naturalists. For groups, we offer special programs. Contact us for more information. Whether you are a Refuge veteran or first-time visitor, we welcome you to share in the beauty of the diverse habitats at the Tennessee National Wildlife Refuge Complex. PLEASE NOTE: Many areas of the Refuge are closed from Nov 15 - Mar 15 to give the wintering migratory birds a chance to rest and build their strength back up for the flight home. |
